Hp Storageworks Msa70 Serial Number
Anyone in IT have an idea how I can get the serial number of an MSA60 SAS storage array. So far I have looked all over the box from the outside and cannot see it on a sticker. I have installed HP ACU on the server its connected to, fired it up and it does not see the array even though it can see the internal storage drives. The box is directly attached to the server via some strange connections I am not familiar with to an internal expansion card.
Sorry no MSA 70 here, but getting the MSA 60 serial number is a excercise in frustration, asthere seems to be no sticker on the enclosure. 'hpacucli show config detail' also does not report any serial or product number. In the end I used the HP Array Diagnostics Utility (hpaducli or the graphics.
Serial number should be on the back. Near the power supply sockets? If the CLI of HP ACU can't see the array and serial. You're gonna have a bit of a job! Take a look for a sticker on the top, or for a sticker somewhere in one of the expansion bays. It looks like they should come out.
Otherwise, connect one of the SAS ports up to a PC initiator and query SES. If you're on a linux box you should be able to use sg3_utils (sg_vpd should have the vendor infor such as serial in it).
I think that one is a dot hill enclosure, so a google on that might give you some further assistance in finding possible locations. If you can't find anything, any good manufacturer should be able to find it in their system, by any of the serial numbers of an original part (such as a PSU) Edited 23 November, 2011 by cheezemonkhai.
